How to Calculate Greenhouse Film Weight

Calculating greenhouse film weight is useful for purchasing, container loading, freight estimation, roll handling and greenhouse project planning.

To calculate greenhouse film weight, you mainly need four values:

  • Film width

  • Film length

  • Film thickness

  • Material density

The basic formula is:

Film Weight = Width × Length × Thickness × Material Density

For polyethylene-based greenhouse film, a material density of approximately 0.92 g/cm³ can be used as a rough planning reference.

However, actual density can vary depending on:
